A high-ranking Taliban official has resigned following the recent confirmation of the death of leader Mullah Omar and a leadership struggle, reports Reuters.
The Taliban leadership council, based in Quetta, Pakistan, announced last week that Mullah Mohammad Akhtar Mansour will be the new leader. Several top leaders, including Omar's brother, have denounced the appointment.
