Head Of Norfolk Naval Shipyard Pays Price For Maintenance Shortfalls

The commander of the Norfolk Naval Shipyard has lost his job, reports the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA).

NAVSEA chief Vice Adm. Bill Galinis has removed Capt. Kai Torkelson from his post due to a loss of confidence in his ability to correct performance issues that were affecting the ability of the shipyard to meet maintenance schedules, a NAVSEA spokesman told USNI News.
