HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and SIMA Peru Launch Second Peruvian Navy Logistics Ship

On Aug. 18, 2026, Naval News reported that HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and SIMA Peru successfully launched B.A.P. CHIMBOTE, the second of two landing support ships for the Peruvian Navy.

B.A.P. CHIMBOTE was the first vessel constructed under the joint defense project and accordingly carries pennant number 159. The multi-purpose logistics vessel is designed to perform operational missions, including transporting personnel and cargo.
