Two hardline Iranian military veterans have been named to security positions, the New York Times reports.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei appointed Mohammad Reza Naqdi to lead the Basij militia, which played a central role in cracking down on protesters following June's disputed presidential election.
Naqdi's predecessor, Hussein Taeb, was moved to an intelligence position within the Revolutionary Guards.
