Haftar Says His Forces Have Liberated Benghazi From Islamists After 3 Years

The head of the self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA) has declared Benghazi "liberated" of Islamist militants, reports Euronews.
Khalifa Haftar, who heads the LNA and was both a supporter and opponent of former dictator Muammar Qaddafi, made his announcement on Wednesday. Haftar said that his forces had fully taken control of Benghazi from rival groups after a three-year campaign, reported Al Jazeera.
The LNA launched Operation Dignity in the city in May 2014.
