Pakistani security forces have launched an offensive against militants in the Kurram tribal agency near the Afghan border, Asian News International reports.
Helicopter gunships pounded militant positions early Thursday in the Chinarak area after the army received an intelligence tip about an insurgent gathering, said security officials.
At least 20 militants were killed and an explosive-laden vehicle was destroyed, said officials.
