Gunfire broke up a rally on Thursday in the southern Kyrgyz city of Osh, the Voice of America News reports.
Deposed President Kurmanbek Bakiyev had just begun speaking to the 2,000-strong crowd when shots were heard, according to witnesses.
Local television footage shows a group of Bakiyev opponents approaching the podium shortly before the shots were fired. It is not clear who fired the first shots.
Bakiyev's bodyguards reportedly lined up in front of him and fired shots...
