Government Shut Down Hinders Foreign Military Sales

The ongoing federal government shutdown has impacted foreign military sales, reports Defense News.

The Foreign Military Sales (FMS) process has been slowed by the partial shutdown, Andrea Thompson, undersecretary of state for arms control and international security, told the paper on Thursday. 

Under the FMS program, the State Dept. must approve a potential deal before it is passed on to the Senate for final review.
