The government in Ghana has deployed a major joint military and police task force to combat illegal mining, reports the Ghana News Agency.
The 400-strong force was deployed Monday to the Ashanti, Eastern and Western regions as part of Operation Vanguard, said officials.
Team members underwent two weeks of training at the Bundase training camp.
