Government Reverses Position About Early Withdrawal From Afghanistan

Government officials now say Australian troops will remain in Afghanistan through 2014, despite recent announcement they would leave early, reports Agence France-Presse.

During meetings with NATO ministers, Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr and Defense Minister Stephen Smith said Aussie troops would be present until NATO completes the security transition.
