The Burmese government is prioritizing the repatriation of "verified returnees" who fled violence in the western Rakhine state for Bangladesh, reports the U.N. News.
On Saturday, Burmese diplomat Kyaw Tint Swe told the U.N. General Assembly that the government is working to "create a more conducive environment" for those returning from refugee camps in Bangladesh.
Displaced people who had been living in Rakhine "have a different legal status," said Swe.
