Government Panel Finds Evidence Of War Crimes During Rakhine Ops But Not Genocide

A government-sponsored panel has concluded that the Burmese military did not commit genocide against the Rohingya minority during operations in Rakhine state in August 2017, reports the Irrawady (Burma). 

On Tuesday, the Independent Commission of Enquiry (ICOE) presented its findings to President Win Myint. The commission was formed in July 2018. 

The panel said that the military, known locally as the Tatmadaw, conducted "mass killings," "war crimes" and "human-rights violations"...
