Government IDs Death of Senior Regional Al-Shabaab Leader, 3 Associates

Somali forces have killed the Al-Shabaab leader in the Lower Shabelle region, reports the Voice of America News, citing a government statement.
Security forces raided the village of Barire on May 5, killing Moalin Osman Abdi Badil and three other Al-Shabaab militants, the government said on Saturday.
The death of Badil "significantly disrupts" the group's ability to operate in the Lower Shabelle, said officials.
That statement did not mention that U.S. forces were involved...
