The Pacific island nation of Kiribati has decided to cut relations with Taiwan in favor of recognizing Beijing, reports the Taiwan News.
The Kiribati government notified Taiwan of its decision on Friday, said Taiwanese Foreign Minister Joseph Wu.
Beijing pledged to provide funds for commercial aircraft and ferries, said Wu, as quoted by Reuters. Taiwan had previously declined to provide funding for the planes but had offered preferential loans, reported BBC News.
