Lebanon's government is making a hurried attempt to pay late salaries to the army, reports Reuters.
Salaries were due last week, but were delayed because of political deadlock in both the Cabinet and Parliament. Neither convened to pass a decree that is required to transfer the funds.
An exceptional measure that bypassed normal legislative channels was used to resolve the issue for this month, said Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil on Monday.
