The Netherlands has announced plans to purchase nine additional F-35 fighter jets, reports Defense News.
The proposed 1 billion euro (US$1.1 billion) acquisition would bring the Dutch F-35 fleet to 46 aircraft and "lay the foundation" for a third squadron, the defense ministry said on Tuesday.
A full squadron would require 15 additional planes, noted the newspaper.
Dutch officials previously said the country was considering buying another eight or nine jets.
