The Bulgarian government has approved the purchase of eight F-16 Block 70 fighters from the U.S. for US$1.25 billion, reports the Sofia News Agency. The F-16s are intended to replace the air force’s current Soviet-era MiG-29 fighter aircraft and bring the country closer to NATO standards.
