Some of Taiwan's most closely-guarded military sites have been revealed in detail by Google Maps, reports the South China Morning Post.
On Friday, Defense Minister Yen Te-fa called for calm after the military sites appeared in a new extension of the mapping service that illustrates sites in three dimensions.
Yen said his ministry had contacted Google and asked the company to blur the sites to ensure security, reported Taiwan News.
The 3D feature, which was rolled out on Wednesday for the Taiwanese cities of Taipei, New Taipei, Taoyuan and Taichung, provides a close-up look at previously-undisclosed Patriot missile systems in the Xindian district in New Taipei.
The site also revealed details of the National Security Bureau and the Military Intelligence Bureau.
The stationing of weapons is different in peacetime than in war, emphasized Yen, who denied that the images would have a substantial impact on military operations.
