The experimental Global Observer unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has completed its first hydrogen-powered flight at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., reports AeroVironment, the Monrovia, Calif.-based manufacturer of the system.
The milestone was seen as the start of high-altitude, long-endurance flight testing for the demonstration and operational utility phase of the Joint Capability Technology Demonstration (JCTD) program, company officials said.
