A federal jury in New York has acquitted a former Guantanamo Bay detainee of 284 of 285 charges involving attacks on U.S. embassies in 1998, the Washington Post reports.
Ahmed Ghailani, 36, was the first former Guantanamo Bay detainee to be tried in civilian criminal court.
He was found guilty of conspiracy to damage or destroy U.S. property, but cleared of multiple murder and attempted-murder charges for his role in the 1998 bombings of U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya. ...
