A top Iranian officer says the navy is going to be equipped soon with new indigenously designed and built submarines, reports the semi-official Fars News Agency.
The submarines will join the fleet after testing in upcoming military exercises, according to Rear Adm. Seyed Mahmoud Moussavi, the deputy navy commander.
The drills are aimed at testing the capabilities of the new Ghadir-class subs, he said, as cited by UPI.
