Russia's space defenses are obsolete and have very limited capability, according to retired generals cited by RIA Novosti.
For example, said one air force officer, Moscow has fallen behind the U.S. in the development of space-based weapons and defense systems by at least 25 years.
Russian industry is not capable of meeting the demand for advanced weaponry, said Gen. Anatoly Kornukov, the former air force commander-in-chief, during a roundtable in Moscow.
