The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) has issued a new report urging the Coast Guard to present a 20-year fleet modernization plan that identifies what the service intends to buy and the projected costs, reports USNI News.
Such changes are needed because of current plans to buy heavy icebreakers and offshore patrol cutters during the same timeframe, said the report, which was published on July 25.
The GAO study did not provide new recommendations on how to proceed....
