The French ambassador to Iraq says Baghdad is entertaining a French offer for 18 retrofitted Mirage F-1 fighters for 733 million euros ($1 billion), Agence France-Presse reports.
Delivery of the aircraft to Iraq could begin in late 2011, said Ambassador Boris Boillon.
The Mirage fighters would be immediately available for operations because many Iraqi pilots have already been trained on the fighter, he said.
