The Ecuadorian government has joined with Chile, Colombia and Peru to coordinate measures to fight illegal fishing in the South Pacific, reports Agence France-Presse.
In a joint statement on Wednesday, the countries pledged to adopt measures "to prevent, discourage and jointly confront" illegal fishing near their exclusive economic zones.
The statement promised enhanced cooperation and information-sharing.
