The 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit has returned to the Japanese island of Okinawa after almost three months in the Asia-Pacific region, reports the Marine Corps News.
The unit and the Essex Amphibious Ready Group served as a maritime contingency force in the region, said military officials.
The MEU's deployment began in September with a trip to Guam for certification training. A detachment was also sent to South Korea for the 60th anniversary of the landing at Inchon.
