FORSCOM Gets A New Commander

Gen. James Thurman has taken charge of the U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) at Fort McPherson, Ga., reports the Army News Service.

Thurman succeeds Gen. Charles Campbell, who retired after 40 years of service. Campbell was the last continuously serving Army officer who saw action in the Vietnam War to leave active duty.

Before assuming command of FORSCOM, Thurman served as the Army's deputy chief of staff for operations, plans and training.
