Former Syrian Intel Officer Convicted Of Crimes Against Humanity

A former Syrian intelligence officer has been convicted by a German court of complicity in crimes against humanity for his involvement in the torture of protesters in 2011, reports the New Arab (London).

On Wednesday, the Koblenz-based court found Eyad al-Gharib guilty of helping to arrest at least 30 protesters and deliver them to the Al-Khatib detention center in Damascus following a rally in the suburb of Duma.
