Former Syrian Base Falls; Kurds Close In On De Facto ISIS Capital

Kurdish and allied forces have caputred a key military base that was once held by the Islamic State in northern Syria, reports the BBC.

The Brigade 93 base in Raqqa province was taken with support from the U.S.-led coalition, said a spokesman for the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) on Tuesday.

They are sweeping the base for explosives, said the spokesman.
