Two senior members of the Sons of Iraq were killed Tuesday in the town of Buhriz in Diyala province, Reuters reports.
Raad Tami al-Mujamai and Khamis Sabaa al-Aqabi were killed in separate attacks when bombs were attached to their cars, police said. Mujamai was also a senior member of the Mujamai tribe, one of the largest in Diyala.
The Sons of Iraq program has also been known as the Sunni Awakening movement, and involves former fighters who have taken on security roles. ...
