U.N. peacekeepers have begun disarming and demobilizing 600 former rebels in Korhogo in the northern Ivory Coast, reports the U.N. News Service.
The combatants from the Forces Armees des Forces Nouvelles (FAFN) are among a group of 1,200 former fighters who are expected to disarm, enter cantonment and join an integrated national army.
The U.N. peacekeeping mission in the Ivory Coast (UNOCI) is monitoring the process.
