A Norwegian merchant ship acquired for humanitarian and disaster relief missions is now officially an Australian navy ship, reports the Australian Dept. of Defense.
The Skandi Bergen, which will be renamed the Australian Defense Vessel (ADV) Ocean Shield, is scheduled to arrive in Australia in July. The announcement about its ownership transformation was just made.
