A former Rwandan minister has become the first female to be convicted of genocide, reports Al Jazeera (Qatar).
The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), based in Tanzania, found Pauline Nyiramasuhuko, 65, guilty Thursday on seven of 11 genocide charges.
Once the minister of women's affairs, Nyiramasuhuko was accused of ordering rape and exterminations in Rwanda's southern Butare region in 1994.
