Nigeria and Uganda will soon deploy a pair of formed police units to the African Union peacekeeping mission in Somalia (AMISOM), reports Xinhua, China's state news agency.
The two 140-man contingents will assist the Somali police in maintaining and improving security in the region.
The police will work directly with their Somali counterparts on patrolling, crime prevention, public order and restoration of the rule of law, said a Ugandan police spokeswoman.
