The United Arab Emirates has formally asked to purchase F-35 fighter jets from the U.S., reports Bloomberg News.
The request was submitted this month after Abu Dhabi signed an agreement formalizing relations with Israel, said a U.S. official familiar with the matter.
Details of the request, including how many jets and its cost, were not disclosed.
Israeli officials have previously expressed reservations that the sale could impact its qualitative military edge in the region.
