Maldivian authorities say they have arrested a group of foreigners who left the country illegally and were bound for a U.S. military base on Diego Garcia, reports Agence France-Presse.
Seven people were arrested on a local trawler on Monday off the southernmost atoll of Addu, said a representative from the president's office. Local media said those arrested were Germans and Italians.
