Foreign Ministry Criticizes U.S. Navy Maneuvers Near Georgia

The Russian Foreign Ministry has condemned the presence of a U.S. Navy cruiser taking part in war games in the Black Sea near Georgia, reports RIA Novosti.

The USS Monterey, which is equipped with the Aegis air defense system, is in the region for joint exercises with the Georgian navy related to a planned U.S.-led missile defense system.

Moscow sees the missile shield, which will use the Aegis system, as a threat.
