The foreign minister of Burkina Faso has urged the international community to create a counterterrorism coalition, similar to those in Afghanistan and Iraq, to fight militants in the Sahel region of Africa, reports the Voice of America News.
Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania and Niger have established the G5 Sahel Joint Force to battle extremist and armed groups, but the force has suffered from significant delays.
The U.N. says the force is now about 75 percent operational....
