The U.S. is deploying troops, fighter aircraft and air defense systems to the Prince Sultan Airbase, reports Al Jazeera (Qatar).
Both the Pentagon and the Saudi Defense Ministry issued statements on July 19 confirming the coming deployment.
This will be the first deployment for U.S. troops to Saudi Arabia since 2003, when U.S. personnel withdrew from the airbase, about 50 miles (75 km) south of Riyadh.
