The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has decided to send troops to Mali and Guinea-Bissau, where military coups have overthrown the civilian governments.
Meeting in Ivory Coast, ECOWAS leaders ordered on Thursday the deployment of a standby force to Guinea-Bissau, reports Afrique en Ligne.
Around 638 troops drawn from Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Senegal and Togo will help withdraw an Angolan assistance mission and assist in a return to civilian rule,...
