Finland to Establish Defense Forces Space Operations Center

On Oct. 30, 2026, the Finnish Ministry of Defense announced the creation of a space operations center within the Air Force Command Finland in Tikkakoski, Central Finland. The center is also one of the first steps under Finland’s nearly finished defense space strategy.

The center is scheduled to begin operations on January 1, 2027, and will command and control the Finnish Defense Forces’ space activities and operations. Alongside that role, it will be responsible for developing the military’s space capabilities. It will open with a staff of roughly 20, a number expected to grow over the following years.
