With Fighting Ongoing, Army Retracts Its Claims About Liberating All Of E. Mosul

On second thought, eastern Mosul is not "totally liberated," the Iraqi Defense Ministry acknowledged on Tuesday, as reported by the Anadolu Agency (Turkey).

Baghdad retracted its earlier claim of gaining complete control of the eastern part of the city from the Islamic State, reports Al Jazeera (Qatar).

The army announced on Monday that it had liberated the left bank of Mosul, which is bisected by the Tigris River. ISIS still controls the western half.
