Three years after the Marine Corps dissolved its last female engagement teams (FETs) in Afghanistan, the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) has revived them, reports the Marine Corps Times.
In recent years, during operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, Marine FETs deployed in small detachments with infantry units to gather information from families and communicate with women, paying close attention to cultural norms and sensitivities.
