Following criticism that the Croatian army did not react quickly enough to combat a recent forest fire, Croatia's defense minister has offered to resign, reports the Balkan Insight.
The blaze covered more than 20 km (12 miles) near the city of Split and threatened its suburbs. The fire was mostly contained by Tuesday; about 200 military personnel helped more than 400 firefighter to fight the fire, noted Reuters.
