Fatal Attack Made On Clerics In Basra

Three Sunni clerics have been shot and killed in the southern Iraqi province of Basra, say local officials cited by Agence France-Presse.

Assailants ambushed the car Thursday night as the clerics were traveling from the provincial capital of Basra to Al-Zubair, said a provincial official.

Two other clerics were reported to be wounded.

The Interior Ministry attributed the attack to the Islamic State terrorist group.
