Falklands Likely To Be Protected By New Air Defense System

The U.K. Ministry of Defense has signed a contract for a new air defense system, reports the Daily Mail (U.K.).
The 228 million pound (US$348 million) development and production contract for the Future Local Area Air Defense System (FLAADS) Land was awarded in December to European missile maker MBDA Systems, reported Jane's Defence Weekly last week.
The new system will replace the British army's Rapier short-range surface-to-air missile systems.
