An individual reconnaissance system for Russian troops is undergoing factory testing, reports Russia's Tass news agency.
The Glaz system has already been experimented with by Russia troops in Syria, a defense industry source said on Sunday.
The device features a high-resolution camera that is designed to be launched from a flare gun. The device is fired to an altitude of 980 feet (300 m) and deploys a parachute to slow its descent. As it falls, the camera transmits imagery to the soldier's tablet computer.
The launcher weighs just under 1 pound (400 grams) and can provide imagery within an area of about 0.2 square miles (0.5 sq km).
