A new report from a research think tank says the U.S. should decrease its dependence on large aircraft carriers in the Pacific, focusing instead on submarines, space capabilities and strengthening security for airbases and aircraft, reports the Stars and Stripes.
The 430-page report released earlier this month by the Rand Corp., Santa Monica, Calif., analyzes the relative military capabilities of the U.S. and China in various scenarios based on open-source information.
