Israeli air force officials have expressed hope that a new Pentagon plan to buy 60 F-22 stealth fighter jets could signal an end to a U.S. congressional ban on exporting the aircraft, the Jerusalem Post reports.
Israel has long expressed interest in purchasing the F-22, the only fifth-generation aircraft with stealth capabilities.
"If the F-22 is made available, we will bring it here as soon as possible, no matter what the price is," said a top Israeli air force officer.
