Japan—F-2 Jet Loses Canopy During Scramble

A Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) fighter lost its canopy while flying over southwestern Japan, reports the Kyodo News (Tokyo). On Sunday, the F-2 fighter was scrambled to verify a possible violation of Japanese airspace by a foreign aircraft, said the defense ministry. The canopy detached while flying over mountainous areas and is believed to have landed near the city of Asakura in Fukuoka prefecture, on the northern coast of the island of Kyushu.
